Beta Technologies “makes first passenger electric aircraft flight into New York”

Beta Technologies became the first U.S. company to land an all-electric aircraft at an airport in the New York-New Jersey region, the company and port authorities said on June 3.

A Beta Alia CX300 conventional take off and landing (CTOL) aircraft touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport after a 45-minute journey from Suffolk County in a first-of-its-kind passenger-carrying demonstration flight.

According to an AOPA new report: “The occasion also marked Beta’s first demonstration flight with passengers. Four people, including Matt Koscal, president of Republic Airways, and Rob Wiesenthal, CEO of Blade Air Mobility, accompanied the single pilot, Beta said.”

Beta arranged the flight in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and plans to receive FAA certification of its eCTOL aircraft next year, with the eVTOL version to follow.
