The supply chain industry thrives on a variety of innovative solutions, but behind those solutions is an equally diverse group of people working to make it all happen. That’s why MHI, with the support of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Committee, is excited to launch the MHI Member Stories series on MHIview.
In the first episode, MHI member Skyeler Smith shares their perspective on the deeper meaning of DEI. Smith emphasizes that “DEI as a whole encapsulates much more than just diversity, equity, and inclusion; I always fall back on the importance of human connection and relationship building.”
MHI DEI Advisory Committee
The mission of the MHI DEI Advisory Committee is to identify opportunities and recommend strategies to actively engage, include, and invest in diverse communities. Their goal is to create opportunities that are accessible and equitable for everyone in the industry.
In fact, the impact of efforts like these is already being seen. According to a recent MHI blog, data from Gartner’s 2023 Supply Chain DEI Survey: Broad Improvements in Workforce and Pipelines shows that the percentage of full-time employees from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups in supply chain organizations increased significantly, from 32% to 48% between 2022 and 2023.
