Explore UST’s round-up of our five most read articles in the industry this week, including new technologies, collaborations, white papers, and industry successes.
1. New Ultra-Light Long-Range Comms Launched for Uncrewed Systems
Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) has launched the BluSDR-90-UL, the latest addition to its BluSDR product line. Designed to meet the evolving needs of both mobile and fixed-site applications, BluSDR-90-UL is optimized for long-range communication on drone platforms, enabling reliable connectivity capable of over 150km in line-of-sight applications.
BluSDR-90-UL delivers 10W of power output while maintaining an ultra-lightweight, low size, weight, and power (SWaP) profile at just 210g and fits in the palm of your hand. This ultra-low SWaP also means that multiple units can be installed on a single vehicle for maximum resilience and mission flexibility.
2. UAVOS Launches New Series SDLM-04B Linear Servo Actuator
UAVOS has introduced the newest addition to its servos line – the SDLM-04B Linear Servo Actuator. The SDLM-04B is engineered for applications that demand high forces and long-term reliability. With its robust construction and powerful side-by-side motor and gearbox design, this actuator sets a new standard for performance and versatility, and is said to be an excellent choice for multiple industries including unmanned aircraft.
The SDLM-04B servo actuator features a brushless DC motor-controlled high-performance FOC servo drive and one contactless multiturn absolute position encoder. The device features feedback data such as the actual position, velocity, torque, bus voltage, and active motor current. The SDLM-04B features a power stage, BLDC motor, temperature and humidity control inside the case. The high-quality construction with hardened steel gears and aluminum housing is rated IP66.
3. Red Cat Secures $1.6 Million in Contracts for FlightWave Military-Grade Tricopter
Red Cat Holdings has secured $1.6 million in contracts for Edge 130 Blue drones, FlightWave’s Blue UAS approved military-grade tricopter to the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP). The contract was secured through Darley, a leading distributor of equipment and technology to first responders and the military, and was coordinated for procurement by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) on behalf of CBP.
FlightWave, a provider of VTOL drone, sensor and software solutions was acquired by Red Cat in September 2024. The acquisition brings FlightWave’s flagship drone, the Edge 130 Blue into its family of low-cost, portable unmanned reconnaissance and precision lethal strike systems.
4. Lynred Expands Infrared Capabilities with Acquisition of SWIR Innovator NIT
Lynred, a global leader in high-performance infrared sensors, has acquired New Imaging Technologies (NIT), a Paris-based provider of shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging sensors and modules.
This acquisition enhances Lynred’s product portfolio, particularly in SWIR technology, which is increasingly critical for unmanned systems, aerospace, and defense applications. The announcement coincides with Lynred’s participation at Vision Stuttgart (October 8-10) and AUSA (October 14-16).
5. Partnership Formed for Uncrewed Aircraft Technology Integration
WaveAerospace, a developer of advanced aerospace technology, has formed a strategic partnership with Amentum’s Autonomous and Unmanned Systems business. This collaboration is set to accelerate the development and commercialization of WaveAerospace’s cutting-edge aircraft technology, providing unparalleled integration and support services to global commercial and government clients.
Amentum’s Autonomous and Unmanned Systems business will provide advanced integration, technology guidance, and global support for deployment of WaveAerospace’s class-defining electric, hybrid, and turbojet uncrewed aircraft.
