UXV Technologies & Aktyvus Photonics Partner to Integrate Laser Systems into Defense Drones

UXV Technologies and Aktyvus Photonics have entered into a strategic partnership to integrate advanced laser technologies into stabilized gimballed camera and imaging systems for the defense drone market.

The collaboration centers on the integration of Aktyvus Photonics’ laser target designators into UXV Technologies’ gimbal solutions. By merging advanced sensor capabilities with laser designation in a compact, lightweight format, the joint solution reduces resource requirements and shortens the duration between target identification and effect. This development enables smaller drone platforms to perform precision target designation that previously required larger systems.

The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Vilnius during a high-level event held alongside the official Danish State Visit to Lithuania. The ceremony was attended by senior industry and government representatives from both nations, highlighting a shared commitment to strengthening European defense cooperation and sovereignty in critical laser systems.

During the event, UXV Technologies unveiled the Optroxa GMB-2000 LTD, the newest addition to its series of stabilized gimballed cameras. This specific model is equipped with the Aktyvus Photonics laser target designator, serving as a primary example of the modular, open architecture innovation driving the partnership.

Laurynas Šatas, CEO of Aktyvus Photonics, stated, “By combining pioneering laser designation with UXV Technologies’ gimbals, we are addressing real operational needs. UXV Technologies’ strong focus on modular, open architectures and innovation makes them an ideal partner and supports the strengthening of European defense cooperation and sovereignty in critical technologies such as laser systems.”

Steven Friberg, CEO of UXV Technologies, added, “We are excited to expand our collaboration with Aktyvus Photonics by integrating their advanced laser technology. With this cutting-edge stabilized gimballed camera system, UXV Technologies is reducing the time from target identification to effect and enabling a truly innovative operational capability from drone platforms. This partnership also reflects a shared commitment to advancing European capabilities in critical defense technologies.”
