Wavefront Systems Anchors Forcys Merger to Drive Next-Generation Sonar Integration

Wavefront Systems has formally merged with Forcys and Chelsea Technologies, bringing its specialist engineering excellence in underwater detection and navigation to a unified team under the Forcys brand.

The merger strengthens the newly combined organisation’s ability to deliver integrated underwater payloads, drawing on Wavefront’s proven pedigree in high-resolution sonar technology. By operating as a single entity, the group aims to meet the escalating technical demands of the defence sector, particularly in protecting critical national infrastructure against increasingly sophisticated autonomous threats. The integration allows for more efficient collaboration, ensuring that world-class sensing solutions are available to help naval and security customers navigate the transition from traditional systems to an autonomous future.

As part of this transition, the combined team is positioned to provide comprehensive underwater situational awareness through missions ranging from Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) to intruder detection and deterrence. While the Forcys name will represent the new organisation, the move is described as a coming together of companies within the same group to amplify their collective impact rather than a traditional acquisition.

Paul Badger, CEO of Forcys, said, “Combining the three organisations provides us with the critical mass required to deliver against a more ambitious vision. With underwater threats to our critical national infrastructure and peer adversaries that increasingly rely on autonomous platforms, we need to be ready to meet the mission head-on. We are doing exactly that.”

The merger follows a period of record-breaking defence deliveries, placing the unified team in an ideal position to lead the next chapter of industry innovation. By integrating specialized sonar and sensing expertise, Forcys aims to provide increased value to customers across both defence and blue technology sectors.

Ioseba Tena, CCO of Forcys, added, “Building on the proven defence pedigree of Chelsea Technologies and Wavefront Systems, we are integrating world-class expertise to help our customers outperform the competition by delivering increased value through our integrated underwater sensing solutions. We are confident that this is the right team at the right time to lead the next chapter of industry innovation.”
