The Big and Little Magellanic Clouds are uneven dwarf galaxies and satellites of the Galaxy. The LMC has to do with 163,000 light-years away and the SMC has to do with 206,000 light-years away, and their close distance makes them outstanding research laboratories for the research of galaxies as a whole. The Clouds are the emphasis of a brand-new research study team being created at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP).
