Fossil study reveals oldest-known evolutionary ‘arms race’

A research led by scientists at the American Gallery of Nature provides the earliest recognized instance in the fossil document of a transformative arms race. These 517-million-year-old predator-prey communications took place in the sea covering what is currently South Australia in between a tiny, shelled pet distantly pertaining to brachiopods and an unidentified aquatic pet efficient in puncturing its covering.
