Part 1: EHang News Round-Up

While the West was enjoying a Christmas and New Year break, it was business as usual in China, where EHang experienced a highly productive and busy period. First off, is news that the Chinese eVTOL company expects to report record Q4, 2024 results, beating revenue guidance by 20 percent.

The company states revenues are expected to reach RMB162 million, representing an increase of 20 percent from the guidance of RMB135 million, and a year-over-year increase of 187 percent from RMB56.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Total revenues for the fiscal year 2024 are expected to reach RMB454 million, representing an increase of 6 percent from the guidance of RMB427 million, and a year-over-year increase of 287 percent from RMB117.4 million in 2023.

It is interesting that while U.S eVTOL companies, especially Archer and Joby, have enjoyed a sterling Stock Market performance in recent months, EHang’s share price has remained static, even though China’s leading electric air taxi company is enjoying increasing sales and profits, unlike its American counterparts who are at least three to five years behind in their business development.

Meanwhile, EHang’s latest new partnerships are increasing by the week. These include collaborations with China Communications Information & Technology Group (CCIT) to co-develop digital and ground UAM infrastructure as well as empower the low-altitude economy (LAE) ecosystem and the Beijing Fangshan District Government to launch National Headquarters for low-altitude emergency rescue equipment.

EHang and CCIT Cooperation Signing Ceremony

CCIT is a specialised subsidiary of China Communications Construction Group (CCCG), which is a world’s leading comprehensive service provider of very large infrastructure. It is also a key technical support unit for major projects and pilot projects under the Ministry of Transport of China.

Its main business covers in-depth enterprise digitalisation, information industry, system integration and engineering implementation, network security and operations, big data and cloud services. CCIT has constructed a comprehensive technical total solution and a systematic commercial service process for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

As part of the collaboration, CCIT will work with various business sectors under CCCG, to partner with EHang to co-develop digital UAM infrastructure and transportation hubs, innovate UAV services, as well as establish a commercial operation model and comprehensive support system for the low-altitude economy, driving innovative development within the sector.

These include:-

: Building Digital UAM Infrastructure (to incorporate digital technologies such as 5G, 6G, satellite communications, sensing, and high-precision navigation into the low-altitude aviation industry).

: Developing Urban Air Mobility Hubs (targeting 100 Cities and 100 Scenic areas).

: Establishing a Full-Chain Innovation Service Platform (to explore the creation of a dedicated fund, research institute and vocational training academy for the LAE industry).

Hang Yuan, Chairman of CCIT, commented, “We hope this partnership will serve as an opportunity to fully leverage our respective professional strengths, establish a good cooperation mechanism, focus on the construction of air mobility hubs and innovation in low-altitude economic service scenarios, and inject new impetus into the innovative development of the low-altitude economy industry.”

Zhao Wang, EHang’s COO, added, “We look forward to advancing the integration of digital infrastructure and low-altitude aviation industry, while accelerating the construction of a smart new infrastructure system.”

EHang and the Fangshan District, Beijing next.

The two parties aim to advance the LAE industry by establishing EHang’s national headquarters for its emergency rescue equipment in Fangshan District.

On December 25th, the Beijing Low-Altitude Safety Emergency Industrial Park was inaugurated in to the Fangshan District, accompanied by a demonstration of emergency rescue. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests and representatives from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The Fangshan District Government will actively coordinate industrial funds to support this initiative and related projects. At this event, EHang showcased its EH-216F firefighting eVTOL.

Building on this collaboration, the two parties will establish a comprehensive Emergency Firefighting Industrial Park in Fangshan District. This Park will integrate key facilities and functions such as R&D, testing, manufacturing, sales, maintenance and training, fostering coordinated upstream and downstream development.

Furthermore, the two will partner to develop a range of low-altitude emergency mission scenarios in Beijing Fangshan District, including urban firefighting, forest fire extinguishing, industrial emergency rescue, disaster relief, and inspection. Beyond that, other low-altitude application scenarios, such as logistics transportation, cultural tourism sightseeing, and passenger transportation, will also be explored and developed.

Wujun Gao, Deputy Head of Fangshan District in Beijing, remarked, “Fangshan District is continuously improving the aviation emergency industry spectrum, gathering high-quality enterprises such as EHang to provide strong support for improving the capital’s emergency rescue system.”
