PDAC Video: BHP works towards 2026 production start for Jansen potash mine

Leveraging a $10 billion financial investment to construct its Jansen potash mine in Saskatchewan, BHP (NYSE, LSE, ASX: BHP) is targeting 4.3 million tonnes of manufacturing by following year, states job lead Karina Gistelinck.

As BHP relocates its profile far from steelmaking products and in the direction of what Gistelinck calls “future-facing assets,” it’s making every effort to straighten its sustainability objectives with exactly how it creates potash.

” Deliberately the mine in Saskatchewan has to do with 30% even more energy-efficient than an ordinary mine in Saskatchewan,” Gistelinck stated in a meeting last month at the yearly Prospectors and Developers Organization of Canada convention in Toronto. “And (it’s) likewise greater than 40% even more water-efficient than any kind of mine in Saskatchewan.”

With toll stress controling headings and the USA a significant potash customer, Gistelinck states BHP is concentrating on expanding its client base to aid it weather political headwinds.
