Scientists look to mid-Pliocene to inform future behavior of East Asian summer monsoon

The Eastern Oriental summer season downpour (EASM) stands as one of the most northern prolonging downpour system, specified by its impressive seasonal march. It includes a step-by-step northward movement of rains phases, beginning with the pre-Meiyu period in southerly China in mid-May, advancing right into the Meiyu period (called Baiu in Japan and Changma in Korea) from mid-June to mid-July, and eventually reaching north China by mid-July.
