In 1949, well known mathematician and physicist John von Neumann supplied a collection of addresses at the College of Illinois, where he presented the idea of the “global builder.” The concept was additional described in the 1966 publication, “Concept of Self-Reproducing Automata,” a collection of von Neumann’s works assembled and finished by an associate after his fatality.
