South Africa alleviated antitrust guidelines to enable rivals in markets struck by high power prices to coordinate on bargaining less costly power supply in a proposal to avoid their overall collapse, a step that possibly assists the nation’s troubling ferrochrome sector. Profession, Market and Competitors Preacher Parks Tau altered the extent of a power customers’ block exception in the Competitors Act in laws released January 5, enabling companies running in “markets in distress” to collectively discuss getting power, share possession of back-up generation capability and jointly deal with vendors as long as no price-fixing of items and solutions occurs.
